Spencer Krug, formerly of Wolf Parade and Sunset Rubdown, has announced a new EP under his Moonface moniker. City Wrecker is the latest body of work since last year’s Julia With Blue Jeans On LP, and arrives September 16 on Jagjaguwar. According to a press release, the new set of tunes marks the final dispatches from Krug’s temporary home of Helsinki, Finland. Below, check out the EP’s tracklist, as well as a crisp, black-and-white clip for its title track.
In a press release, Krug writes:
City Wrecker is the title track of the EP. I wrote it before Miley Cyrus released Wrecking Ball, but I cannot prove it. Oh well. In describing the song (and maybe the whole EP) I would say it’s the aesthetic opposite of Wrecking Ball by Miley Cyrus, which is not to say that’s a good thing or a bad thing, just an apple for you to hold up beside your orange. Regardless of all that, my friend Eetu, who recorded this EP, still likes to call the song Wrecking Ball and to sometimes call me Miley, but that’s okay cuz we’re buddies.

On October 28, the Flaming Lips will release With a Little Help From My Fwends, a full-album cover of the Beatles‘ 1967 classic Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band. Now, Wayne Coyne has shared a tracklist on Instagram that features a few previously confirmed contributors and a handful of brand new ones.
Take a deep breath: From the looks of it, the album will feature Miley Cyrus, My Morning Jacket, J Mascis, Dr. Dog, Cool Kids’ Chuck Inglish, Phantogram, Julianna Barwick, Tool/Perfect Circle/Puscifer singer Maynard James Keenan, Tegan and Sara, Moby, Foxygen, MGMT, Black Pus (aka Lightning Bolt’s Brian Chippendale), Morgan Delt, Wilco side project the Autumn Defense, Wayne Coyne and Steven Drozd’s side project Electric Würms, Grace Potter, and more. (It has not been confirmed that this is the complete and final tracklist.)
As Coyne wrote on Instagram: “Yessssss!! Lots of great stuff !!!!!!!! Wow!!!! It’s really gonna happen!!!!!”. Notably, Cyrus will guest on the epic album closer “A Day in the Life”, while Mascis and My Morning Jacket will play the title track opener. The Lips/Miley version of “Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds” is out now.
Proceeds from sales of With a Little Help From My Fwends will go to the Bella Foundation, an organization in the band’s Oklahoma City hometown that helps low income, elderly, or terminally ill pet owners with the cost of veterinary care.

Late last week, Miley Cyrus took to Instagram to express her admiration for feminist punk pioneer Kathleen Hanna. She posted two photos of Hanna in the early 1990s, when she sang in Bikini Kill, including one of the iconic images of Hanna with “SLUT” written across her stomach.
This wasn’t entirely unexpected, as Miley has discussed feminism and gender politics in interviews, and it’s not that hard to imagine her being into “Suck My Left One” or “Double Dare Ya”.
Now, Hanna has provoked a world of rebel-girl fantasies: she reached out to Miley over Twitter to propose a collaboration. Hanna wrote:
Hey @MileyCyrus so sweet you posted pics of me…have an idea for an album that only you are daring enough to make .

Is Miley about to enter her riot grrrl/feminist killjoy period? Will they record as “Kathleen Hannah Montana”? Is this Revolution Bangerz Style Now? Someone get Miley a copy of Girls to the Front ASAP.
